UDJAT Ensemble feat. Pedro Jóia

Inspired by the Mediterranean musical heritage, this ensemble presents a repertoire inspired on sounds from Iberian, Oriental and Jewish roots. Mainly made from a perfect combination of vocals, Portuguese guitar and percussion, the music of this duo remembers, according to themselves, “ancestral sounds with a contemporary approach”. Sofia Sousa Claro is the vocals, a lyrical singer passionate about world music, who explores a language of her own, inspired by the Creation Myths of ancient religions. Hugo Claro is responsible for the melodies, a multi-instrumentalist and composer trained in Visual Arts and Poetry, who embraced the Portuguese guitar, developing a peculiar approach to the instrument, also inspired by classical, flamenco, Berber, Arabic guitars and medieval music. Together they have already signed three albums: Udjat (2016), Ameretat (2017) and Escritos de um Rei Antigo (2021), in which they counted, in one of the themes, with the participation of Pedro Jóia, one of the most excellent performers of classical guitar in Portugal, who will be present in this concert as a special guest.
