Horace Andy

(JM)

Easily recognizable as one of the voices of the historic Blue Lines, Mezzanine and Heligolandalbums by Massive Attack, which made many people think that the veteran Jamaican musician was actually a member of the English band, Horace Andy's career, currently 72 years old, is much more than this collaboration, as we can see when listening to themes like Fever, Mr. Bassie or especially Skylarkingtoday true landmarks in the history of reggae. Known for having the “sweetest voice in reggae music”, he began his career alongside Coxsone Dodd, with whom he recorded See A Man's Face and the aforementioned Mr. Bassie, he delighted fans with his love songs, but also for his ability to always add sharp and accurate social and political criticism to his music. Despite his worldwide success, he has always remained faithful to the traditional sub-genres of reggae, in particular rock steady and dancehall, this being one of the main reasons for the invitation of Massive Attack, who have always cited him as one of the band's main influences. Last year, he edited the acclaimed new album Midnight Rocker, which he presents in this edition of the Festival MED, in a show where there will be some of Horace Andy's timeless classics.
