Ferro Gaita are a true Cape Verdean institution that brings the flavour of the islands to the global circuit of Lusophone sounds. They are true ambassadors of funaná, a traditional Cape Verdean musical genre that was born around two instruments typical of that region of the globe, whose names - ferro and gaita - even inspired the very signature used by the band formed by Iduíno (‘gaita’: Diatonic accordion) and vocals), Bino (vocals and ‘ferro’: scraped idiophone), Lobo (drums), Pitó (cowbell and vocals), Manel (congas and vocals), Betinho (bass) and Carlitos (trombone).
Major figures in Cape Verdean music - alongside names such as Cesária Évora and Os Tubarões - Ferro Gaita's legacy has been an influence on some of the current music emerging in our country, infecting the universes of artists such as Dino D'Santiago, Boss AC or Julinho KSD. It's this great history of more than two decades that the group presents in energetic stage performances where they combine classics such as ‘E Si Propi’ (which deserved a version by Portuguese band Fogo Fogo) and more recent songs such as ‘Grogu’ or ‘No Ku Nada’.
