The music of this Romanian band, led by multi-instrumentalist Sașa-Liviu Stoianovici and accomplice and producer Alin Zăbrăuțeanu, is an unlikely marriage, due to the way they mix low-fi electronics, psychedelic folk and the most diverse sounds from the Balkans to create what they they themselves define and present it as “a Balkan explosion full of groove”. It all started as a kind of mission, when Sasa's passion for ancient Romanian music and Slavic culture led him to travel through much of this region to record, with local singers and musicians, the traditional melodies that he later mixed with electronic beats and sounds. contemporary. And straight from the depths of the Balkans, it only took a few small steps, or rather a few singles, to jump onto the world's stages and dance floors. There is no culture shock or cultural appropriation here, but a great love for the Balkan musical tradition, mixing old analogue instruments like the Romanian cobza, the Turkish elektro-saz or the Bosnian šargija, with modern synthesizers and lyrics sung in Romanian dialects, Croatian or Serbian. The first album, Disko Telegraf, came out in 2021 and perfectly sums up this sometimes almost absolute chaos, which reaches its peak hard in live performances, as the MED audience will be able to witness this year.
