“Fragmentos de Humanidade”

Moulay Youssef El Kahfaï was born in Marrakech, the city where he lives and works. He graduated from the prestigious School of Fine Arts of Tetouan and has an artistic career of more than thirty years in which the strongest experiences are associated with a perpetual search for what is happening inside the human being, this search being the continuous trait of Your jobs. He is a visual artist who likes to use different materials, supports and utensils, without, however, deviating from a coherent path, with a defined objective, whether in painting, engraving, sculpture or other expressions: the transcendence of matter, in order to bring out an idea, a mood or an emotion.

Proficient artist, founder of a professional artistic printing studio, animator and teacher of drawing and engraving studios in Ecole des Arts Visuals de Marrakech, carries out these heteroclite activities originating from the same source and seeking the same purpose: Art.

All these creative actions contribute to the fact that he is a highly regarded artist, as evidenced by his multiple and continuous individual and collective exhibitions, both in Morocco and in other countries, as well as his belonging to prestigious private and public collections.

Moulay Youssef El Kahfaï has known Portugal for several years, having exhibited at the House of Islamic and Mediterranean Culture of Silves, at the Galeria do Palácio Presidencial da Cidadela de Cascais and at the Galeria do Castelo de Mértola and maintains regular contact with artists, curators, critics of Portuguese art and thinkers.

For this new exhibition, called FRAGMENTS OF HUMANITY, the Author selected recent works of painting, collages, engravings and lithographs, with a strong vision of reflection on the human being, in its interdependencies, expressions, contradictions and feelings.

The remains of the Portuguese presence in Morocco constitute an important heritage complex that forms a common historical heritage. The Grupo do Risco registration does not focus on systematic scientific approaches, but on a diversity of perspectives that arouse widespread interest, more adequately serving the purposes of dissemination. It is a diverse approach to drawing, illustration and photography, focused on this heritage and extending to its human and natural environment. It also serves the purpose of contributing to the dissemination of Morocco's enormous scenic and cultural wealth.

Grupo do Risco is a non-profit association of professional and amateur artists (illustrators, designers, sculptors, photographers) that aims to promote and disseminate environmental values through the use of a variety of artistic forms that include drawing and painting, normally in a graphic diary, but also photography and video.
