Rem Urasin is one of the most brilliant Russian pianists of his generation, awarded in several international competitions, including: the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (1995), the Monte Carlo Piano Masters (Grand Prix, 2001) and the International Piano Competition in Sydney (2004).
He is actively involved in recitals and performance activities, regularly giving concerts and masterclasses in many towns and cities around the world. He has performed with the Russian National Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo, the Vienna and Krakow Chamber Orchestras and many other projects. He has collaborated with musicians such as Mikhail Pletnev, Maxim Vengerov, Kazimierz Kord, Veronika Dudarova, Mischa Maisky, Julian Rachlin, Antoni Wit, among others.
The musician's recordings released in Russia, Japan, Great Britain, Holland and Australia were highly acclaimed by the press and received awards. In September 2007, the joint CD by cellist Boris Andrianov and Rem Urasin, with works by Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich, was selected by the British magazine Gramophone as the best chamber album of the month. In 2015, the musician released a double CD with the complete collection of F. Chopin's mazurkas by Brilliant Classic, which received more than 3 million views on the Brilliant Classic YouTube channel.
In 2006, the pianist received the honorary title of National Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The invariably high public interest in the composer's projects confirms that Rem Urasin is a born romantic pianist, with an excellent sense of style, respect for tradition and a great musical culture. It is no coincidence that Polish critics call him “Chopin-like”, while his admirers call him “Chopin's ambassador”.
He is the artistic director of the Sviatoslav Richter Foundation Annual Music and Arts Festival in Tarusa and the Sviatoslav Richter Foundation International Art Summer School, held annually as part of the festival.
Since 2022 he has lived in Portugal.
