TERESINHA LANDEIRO

(PT)

Teresinha Landeiro originally aimed to become a doctor but ended up studying management. However, it's in fado where she has carved her career. She made her debut in 2018 with "Namoro", an album produced by Pedro de Castro, a pivotal figure in Lisbon's fado scene and her musical mentor through the nights at the renowned Mesa de Frades, a crucial spot in Lisbon's fado circuit where Teresinha returned countless times over the years. Then, in 2021, came "Agora", again with Castro at the production helm, showcasing a more confident Teresinha — not just in her voice but also in her songwriting.

"Singing fados" Teresinha explains, "is about telling stories, stories that people will receive as they understand them. The magic of fado lies in this: conveying a message through emotion, but each person receives it in their own intimate, unique way. That's why fado is so direct and personal. You don't even need to understand the language to feel its impact", assures the fado singer, who in 2022 initiated a personal challenge on social media called "Alguidar de Palavras" (Bowl of Words). Her knack for writing led her to participate as an author and performer in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, and in 2024, she released a new album, "Para Dançar e Para Chorar”, showcasing new facets of her creativity.

This unusual journey has earned her strong applause not only in Portugal but also in Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria and South America: "I've sung for very diverse audiences. And fado manages to reach all of them".
