MOUVMAN ALÉ

(RE)

Mouvman Alé is a quartet hailing from Réunion, led by the charismatic singer and songwriter Franswa Virassamy-Macé. Their music is a hypnotic and electrifying blend of psych rock, pop, traditional rhythms from Réunion and contemporary electronic production.

The group describes their style as "romans non-galizé rényoné", in Creole, roughly translating to "unpolished/slightly experimental songs from Réunion". Franswa's lyrics and melodies capture the intense energy of daily life on the island, exploring encounters, landscapes and mysteries that define it. Artistically, Mouvman Alé is the result of a vibrant exchange between the musicians and Tetka, the entity governing the island's energy.

Since 2018, with the addition of three young talents, the group has solidified into a cohesive and dynamic collective guided by the principle of energy. Alongside Franswa, the group includes Benjamin Reboll (electronics, keyboard, vocals), Baptiste Clément (guitar, bass, vocals), and Loïc Médoc-Elma (percussion, vocals). Together, they reveal the contemporary, powerful and raw side of Réunion's music.

The EP "Romans Non-Galizé" serves as a vital introduction to the group, showcasing music with the energy of punk yet grounded in original rhythms and arrangements that reflect Réunion's rich cultural diversity. Mouvman Alé not only represents a new era in the island's music but also a continuous dialogue between tradition and modernity, rooted in the deep vitality of their homeland.
