THE FESTIVAL

As part of the program promoted by the Municipality to boost the city, the 1st edition of MED was born in 2004, with the idea of putting on a festival of “different and unique music”, which would enhance the promotion of the municipality. Thus, promoting and revitalizing the city's Historic Area, in a perspective of cultural dynamism and, simultaneously, the dissemination of the culture of the countries of the Mediterranean Basin, and the tourist image in summer time constituted, in general terms, the objectives of its realization .

From the Mediterranean, he moved to a global scale, expanding the concept to the music and cultures of the world. Over the course of 18 editions, the MED Festival has consolidated itself as an anchor event in the regional, national and European context. The number of visitors and “supporters” grew year after year, so the enclosure has been expanding practically with each edition.

On the other hand, the MED Festival is an initiative that contributes significantly to the promotion, recovery, enhancement and sustainability of built spaces and preservation of built historical heritage.

In terms of tourism activity, since its inception, the MED has had the aim of encouraging sustainable tourism, promoting quality and fostering the creation of differentiating factors.
